Teen dies at Benedict Pond in Great Barrington

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. (NEWS10) -- An investigation has begun after a teenager died at Benedict Pond in Great Barrington on Wednesday.

Police were called to the beach area of the pond around 1:50 p.m. for a report of a 14-year-old who was unaccounted for. When first responders arrived, the teen had already been located unresponsive in the water.

The child was removed from the water and CPR was started. They were taken to the hospital but did not survive. The investigation is ongoing.
