Breaking: Schumer 'told Biden it's time to drop out'

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) reportedly told President Joe Biden that he should drop out of the presidential race on Saturday, ABC News reports.

At a one-on-one meeting Saturday, "Schumer forcefully made the case that it would be better for Biden, better for the Democratic party, and better for the country if he were to bow out."

Schumer issued a statement to Raw Story shortly after the story was published. It was, in political terms, a non-denial denial.

California Congressman Adam Schiff formally called on Joe Biden to quit his presidential campaign due to “serious concerns” the president won’t be able to beat Donald Trump a second time.

“A second Trump presidency will undermine the very foundation of our democracy, and I have serious concerns about whether the president can defeat Donald Trump in November,” Schiff, a top House Democrat running for Senate, said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times.

While praising Biden for a “lifetime of service” Schiff told the Los Angeles Times he believes its time for the 81-year-old president to “pass the torch.”
