3 earthquakes recorded at lake near Gilroy
Three earthquakes of magnitude 3 were recorded within about 30 hours at San Felipe Lake, near Gilroy, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The first two — 3.2 and 3.4 — were within a minute of each other at 1:41 a.m. Tuesday, July 16. The third, 3.3, was at 8:27 a.m. Wednesday, July 17.
The USGS Did You Feel It webpage drew responses from as far north as San Jose’s Coyote Valley as well as from Watsonville and Seaside.
Four quakes under magnitude 2 were recorded at the same epicenter during that 30-hour period.
San Felipe Lake is next to Highway 152 about 6 miles southeast of Gilroy.
