Court asks surgeon to pay Rs 12 lakh compensation to patient for botched Hernia surgery in Tamil Nadu

The Namakkal commission ordered Rasipuram surgeon Dr. Ramesh to compensate M Raja 12 lakh for a 2021 botched hernia surgery. CO2 shortage caused anaesthesia to wane, nurses pinned Raja, leading to an infection from sub-standard mesh, requiring a second surgery. Raja, unable to eat post-surgery, filed a petition in September 2022.
