UCLan Cyprus holds 2024 graduation ceremony
The Graduation Ceremony of UCLan Cyprus was held successfully on July 5, 2024 at the Pattichion Amphitheatre in Larnaca. This significant event featured inspiring speeches from esteemed guests such as CEO and Chair of the Council of UCLan Cyprus Floros Voniatis, President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus Annita Demetriou, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Leadership at UCLan UK Professor Janice Allan, and Rector of UCLan Cyprus Professor Irene Polycarpou. Their speeches elevated the evening’s grandeur, honoring the graduates’ dedication and achievements.
In his address, CEO and UCLan Cyprus Council Chair Voniatis congratulated all the graduates, noting that “this achievement marks a significant milestone in their lives, and they should be proud of their successes”. He also highlighted the great value that the British University of Cyprus places on critical thinking, enriching knowledge, and the creation of an environment that focuses on intellectual, social and personal development. Additionally, he highlighted the recent and important establishment of the new School of Arts, Media & Communication, which aims to foster students’ creativity through the new programmes offered by the University.
In Her Excellency’s greeting, President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus Demetriou stated that “education is the most effective force for transforming the world”. She congratulated the graduates for their remarkable accomplishments, borne of their commitment and dedication, while highlighting the importance of the relationships they had forged during their studies, with both academic members and peers. As they prepared to embark on their next journey, she added, their knowledge should be deployed for future development of the broader community.
UCLan Cyprus Rector Professor Polycarpou hailed graduates’ courage and resilience and recognised the consistent support provided by their families. She also acknowledged the invaluable guidance provided to them by the University’s academics. Professor Polycarpou encouraged those graduating to continue exploring new horizons, to innovate, to be prepared to face any challenges on their path, to uphold their values and ideals, and to strive to have a positive impact on society.
The evening concluded with the awarding of degrees and recognition of top graduates from UCLAN Cyprus’ undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, making it an unforgettable night.
