GoFundMe created to help pay for funeral of 4-year-old found dead in Vinton water
CALCASIEU PARISH, La. (KLFY)– A GoFundMe has been established to help the family of 4-year-old Dary Jack prepare a funeral for him; the body of the child was discovered Monday, July 8 floating in the water behind the Vinton Welcome Center.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office recovered the 4-year-old's body after witnesses reported seeing a it in the water behind the center. The 4-year-old was last seen the Saturday before with his mother, 25-year-old Aaliyah N. Jack of Lake Charles, and his 1-year old brother, who authorities found abandoned in a ditch on I-10 eastbound near mile marker 10 Tuesday, July 9.
Jack was discovered in Mississippi, without the 1-year-old, by the Meridian Police Department, then later arrested. She is being charged with two counts of failure to report a missing child; cruelty to a juvenile; and 2nd degree murder, with a bond set at $9.1 million.
The 4-year-old's paternal grandmother, Dion Polk, created the GoFundMe and has been caring for the child for the past few months due to "the neglect and abuse of his mother", according to the page. Dary's grandmother said her playful grandson was a lover of Sonic, Ninja Turtles and Happy Meals.
