The Pakistani army confirmed that eight soldiers were killed as a result of an attack by Hafiz Gul Bahadur’s forces, the commander of the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

On Tuesday, July 16th, the Pakistan army announced that 10 armed attackers associated with the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) attacked the Bannu military camp in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa early on Monday morning.

According to the army, the attackers detonated a vehicle laden with explosives near the military base. The Pakistan army reported that guards at the camp lost their lives due to the blast and the collapse of a wall.

As reported by Express Tribune, the Pakistan army stated that the guards’ resistance prevented a potentially catastrophic event.

The Pakistan army stated that the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group is based in Afghanistan and assured that necessary actions will be taken against threats originating from Afghanistan.

The Pakistan army said, “This attack was carried out by the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group based in Afghanistan, which has previously used Afghanistan soil to conduct terrorist activities inside Pakistan.”

The Pakistan army has consistently raised its concerns with the Afghan Taliban and urged them to cease the continuous use of Afghanistan soil by terrorists, calling for effective actions against such elements.

The Taliban consistently deny any attacks from Afghanistan soil against neighboring countries.

Earlier, the Pakistan army had launched attacks on Pakistani Taliban bases in eastern Afghanistan provinces.

This recent attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa comes after Pakistan rejected any negotiations or ceasefire with the Pakistani Taliban last week.

Meanwhile, these events underscore the volatile security situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, with cross-border militant activities posing significant challenges to regional stability.

The ongoing clashes highlight the complexities in managing security threats across national borders, necessitating continued vigilance and cooperation among neighboring countries to mitigate such risks effectively.
