Coach Jim Harbaugh and Courageous Pro-Life Prisoner Receive National Pro-Life Awards

0

A pro-life group is handing out its annual awards to leading pro-life figures who carry the pro-life banner forward. This year, football Coach Jim Harbaugh and Joan Bell, who Joe Biden put in prison for protesting abortion, are receiving awards from Live Action.

“I am thrilled to announce the 2024 Life Awardees for Live Action’s fifth annual Life Awards Gala. These courageous defenders of life were selected for their leadership, sacrifice, and bold commitment on behalf of our most vulnerable,” Live Action president Lila Rose told LifeNews.com.

These courageous pro-life champions will be honored at the group’s gala on October 5th.

One of the most accomplished coaches in football, Jim Harbaugh led the University of Michigan to an 86-25 record in his nine seasons as head coach, winning the national title and setting a school record. Harbaugh was named 2011 NFL Coach of the Year by The Associated Press after his first season with San Francisco when he led the 49ers to an NFC West division crown.

Jim and his wife, Sarah, have seven children and have made it their mission to speak up for the pro-life cause. “Let the unborn be born” is a refrain used consistently by Harbaugh throughout his career, preaching the importance of embracing life to his young teammates – even going as far as offering to adopt a child if an unplanned pregnancy occurred. In the world of media and sports, Harbaugh has been a true light in the darkness, inspiring others to see the beauty of life in the womb.

Since 1973, Joan Bell has passionately dedicated herself to protecting the preborn and restoring their fundamental human rights. Engaging in non-violent direct intervention at killing centers since 1978, she’s been arrested over 200 times in the rescue movement. With more than 6 years spent in jails and prisons, she’s steadfastly pursued her mission to stop abortion.

Joan is currently serving an unjust imprisonment because of her heroic rescue efforts, so the award will be accepted by fellow pro-life activist Mary Wagner.

Steventhen Holland is an author, recording artist, and passionate worship leader, who survived against the odds. He will also receive an award.

Conceived through the gang-rape of a mentally challenged and homeless young woman who faced a society that was constantly pressuring her to abort him, he survived. Despite his tumultuous conception, he was quickly placed in the care of a loving foster family and would later be adopted. After 27 years, Steventhen was miraculously reunited with his birth mother. Now, he spends his life sharing his message of resilience and HOPE rooted in the Gospel by performing and speaking at events nationwide.

Each awardee will receive a Life Award, hand-crafted and designed by renowned international sculptor and award-winning artist Tom White. The sculptor’s intent was to capture the love of a mother and her child in a stylized form that could represent any mother. The halo encircling her head was developed to depict the eternal bond between the two, with the mother gazing down with love and compassion while holding her child close to her in an act of protection.
