‘Dupe alert’ cry Primark workers as they reveal gorgeous £12 summer bag that looks just like £950 designer version
PRIMARK is renowned for releasing stylish items that bear striking resemblances to designer versions.
And the high street giant has delivered the goods yet again in the form of a £12 summer bag that will look perfect at the beach.
The cream tote bag is only £12[/caption] A worker modelled the bag in a Glasgow store with a ‘dupe alert’[/caption] It bears a striking resemblance to Chloe’s £950 version[/caption]Modelling it in store, an employee at the Sauchiehall Street branch in Glasgow said: “Dupe alert. Everyday bag only £12.”
The bag in question is a cream Medium Canvas Tote Bag with a tan leather trim and handles.
Primark bosses say: “Elevate your carryall game with our chic canvas tote bag, boasting a soft yet structured design in a stylish two-tone cream and brown colourway!
“Perfectly versatile, it features small sturdy handles for a classic look and a removable shoulder strap for convenient hands-free transportation.
“Whether you’re heading to the market, the office, or a weekend getaway, this tote combines functionality with effortless elegance.
“Its durable canvas construction ensures it can handle all your essentials while maintaining its sleek shape.
“Make this your go-to bag for any occasion, blending practicality with timeless style!”
And savvy shoppers may notice that it is the perfect dupe for Chloe’s £950 medium Woody tote.
The designer bag is crafted from lower-impact linen canvas detailed with shiny calfskin strips.
It is hailed as a “spacious bag with a strong summer attitude” and boasts a roomy inside compartment with a practical flat pocket.
The bag’s modern lines are emphasised by the contrasting vertical leather strips and the signature Chloé logo ribbon. Carry this tote bag comfortably on the shoulder.
The only difference between the two? A cool £938.
So if you’re on a tight budget then you may want to head down to your nearest Primark.
And while you’re in store, you may notice that the cowgirl trend is back big time.
Led by proud “horse girl” Bella Hadid and cemented in the mainstream through Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter era, everyone’s after some Western boots and a saddle bag.
You don’t have to fork out designer prices to participate in the style, though.
Sure, it would be nice to own the Gucci Horsebit 1955 Mini Rounded Bag.
But at £2,290 a pop, it’s probably a distant dream for most of us.
Fortunately, Primark has come to the rescue with its brand new offering of cowgirl bags.
Its new light and dark brown beige saddle bags have a very similar vibe to Gucci’s luxury pieces.
Why is Primark the place to go to for bargains?
JUST how does Primark do it? Continue delivering on-trend items at such incredible prices? According to bosses, it's down to four points.
- They “sell a lot of items” – Thanks to that, they are able to make savings by buying in bulk for their 191 UK stores
- They “do very little advertising”
- While their clothes offer the “latest trends”, they “don’t use expensive hangers, tags or labels”.
- And lastly, they try to be “as efficient as possible when transporting products from factories to stores”. This includes things like asking “suppliers to pack our t-shirts so they are ready to go straight on shelf”.

Just like the Italian fashion house’s bags, they come complete with a metal clasp fastening and cross-body strap – all for a cool £12.
One suede design, in chesnut brown or chocolate brown, has been compared to the Yves Saint Laurent Le 5 À 7 Supple Large in Suède.
Primark hasn’t released the price of the shoulder bag yet, but we can guarantee it’s a far cry from YSL’s £2,300 price tag.
The fast fashion brand joked that with the new bags, you can “make the cowgirl trend your entire personality”.
