TOPEKA (KSNT) - A Topeka native, known locally for writing the Midwest family drama "The Topeka School", made the New York Times 'Best Books of the 21st Century' list.

Ben Lerner took the 62nd spot on the list with his sequel to "The Topeka School", "10:04", which was described by the Harvard Review Online as "mysteriously metafictional, a palimpsest of both fiction and nonfiction, peeled back to reveal more and more layers of each."

The New York Times describes the book as "nominally about the attempts of a Brooklyn author, burdened with a hefty publishing advance, to finish his second book."

Lerner's book "The Topeka School" was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and won the Los Angeles Book Award for Fiction. To view the full New York Times 'Best Books of the 21st Century' list, click here.
