Police fatally shoot man near Republican National Convention perimeter: reports
Police fatally shot a man blocks away from the Republican National Convention perimeter Tuesday afternoon, reports show.
The shooting occurred near 14th and Vliets streets in Milwaukee, WISN Milwaukee reported.
“Witnesses told WISN 12 News two men were fighting in King Park, and one of them pulled a knife out," the report states. "The witnesses said the men were startled when so many officers responded.”
USA Today reported that the man was killed by an out-of-town police officer from Columbus.
The Columbus Fraternal Order of Police released a statement saying that no officers were injured in the incident.
After an assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, security has been dramatically increased around the perimeter.

A law enforcement source told Politico the fatal shooting was "almost certainly unrelated to the convention."
