Why is Queen Camilla wearing a bandage on her foot?

After an eventful visit to Jersey, the King and Queen headed to Guernsey today as part of their first tour of the Channel Islands since they were crowned.

They were filmed greeting crowds on a walkabout in the streets, but many noticed that Camilla was wearing a bandage on her right foot.

It didn’t stop her from tramping the streets to thank those who turned out to pay their royal respects, but it must have made things more difficult, and she leaned on a folded umbrella for support.

It is understood that she suffered a slight ankle sprain yesterday.

The King and Queen made headlines yesterday after they were bundled into a hotel on St Helier due to a ‘false alarm’ incident when a member of their visit team raised a concern.

A full background check was carried out and they were then allowed out to carry on with their day, with the nature of the concern not made public.

The visit also saw raised eyebrows from Camilla when the Jersey cows she was taking a look at decided it was the idea time to get amorous, with one mounting another as she tried not to laugh.

During the trip today, the King sampled half a pint of ‘Charles’ golden ale created by local craft brewery Little Big Brew Company to celebrate the King’s coronation.

Dan O’Brien, director and head brewer, said: ‘He seemed to enjoy it. He tasted it.

‘He told us “that’s as much as I can manage as I’ve got a long day ahead”.’

Camilla was also given a piece of Guernsey Dairy Vintage Cheese by the Guernsey Dairy company as an ‘early present’ before her 77th birthday tomorrow.

The King returned to public facing duties in April despite his continued treatment for cancer.

Jersey and Guernsey announced special public holidays to mark the royal visits on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.

The Crown Dependencies are not part of the UK but are self-governing possessions of the British Crown.

When Queen Elizabeth II visited Jersey in 2001, she was presented with two dead ducks on a silver tray, part of an ancient tradition dating back to the Middle Ages when six seigneurs, lords of the manor, would pay homage to the sovereign as the Duke of Normandy with the mallards.

Her son was not presented with any dead ducks, but got two local duck eggs instead.
