Interest sops in works for companies setting up cold storage facilities for onions
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries plans to introduce an interest subvention scheme for private firms setting up cold-storage facilities near major cities to stabilize onion prices. After high prices and inflation last year led to export bans, the initiative aims to store onions closer to urban centers to manage market fluctuations. With 50 key locations identified, including Delhi and Mumbai, the scheme seeks to address supply gaps during peak demand periods, mitigating price spikes and ensuring steady availability.
