Emmys: Every actress nominated for both comedy and drama series [PHOTOS]
In 2020, Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”), Olivia Colman (“The Crown”), and Laura Dern (“Big Little Lies”) all earned their first Emmy nominations for regular drama series roles. Since they had already been similarly recognized on the comedy side, they officially joined 20 other actresses with lead or supporting bids for both types of programs. Scroll through our photo gallery to find out who else belongs to this exclusive club.
At this point, the only actresses who have ever won Emmys as both drama and comedy series regulars are Edie Falco (“The Sopranos”; “Nurse Jackie”) and Allison Janney (“The West Wing”; “Mom”). Another five women on this list were only lauded for their dramatic roles, while five more only prevailed on their comedy bids.
Every actress included in this gallery was nominated at least once each in categories specifically meant to honor continuing comedy or drama series performances. This excludes bids in consolidated categories as well as those for single-episode appearances. Guest nominees are also not counted, even if they previously or subsequently received regular credit on their series.
