Ex-Man Utd star Tahith Chong suffers ‘nasty looking’ injury in pre-season as fans slam ‘totally uncalled for’ tackle
LUTON TOWN star Tahith Chong suffered a rough injury during a pre-season friendly.
Luton beat Rukh Lviv in Slovenia thanks to Carlton Morris’ winner after just 15 minutes.
However, the Hatters’ manager Rob Edwards suffered an injury scare as Chong had to be subbed off on 56 minutes.
That was after a horror challenge that brought the game to a standstill as the ex-Manchester United ace needed medical treatment.
The winger was replaced by Chiedozie Ogbene and so far there has been no fitness update.
Luton fans were left shocked as they stormed social media shortly after the incident.
One fan tweeted: “Totally uncalled for. Hope its not a serious one. Pitch like that should be restructured.”
Another commented: “Hoping he’s okay.”
A third said: “Needless challenge, ball was gone! Hope he is ok.”
This fan wrote: “Unnecessary from their defender there, praying he’s okay.”
And that one stated: “Didn’t look good.”
Chong joined Luton from Birmingham last year shortly after Edwards’ side sealed promotion to the Premier League.
The Dutchman amassed a total of five goals in 38 appearances last season.
However, Luton immediately returned to the Championship after finishing 18th in the Prem table.
