UK holidaymakers enjoy around 9.3 million camper or caravan trips a year according to Statista, making it one of the most popular staycation methods out there.

There is also a rising trend of people ditching expensive rental homes in favour of the freedom and affordability of van life.

With that in mind, SunMotors has searched through the listing on the AA’s website to produce a full guide on the best deals you can take advantage of right now.

The cheapest is a 1996 VW Trans Caravelle for just £4,999 in Rhyl, Wales.

It boasts an automatic transmission and comes in an attractive deep red colour.

Photos show it to be in good condition apart from some wear and tear to the seats and the rear portion contains a spacious sleeping area fitted out with a kitchen unit and privacy curtains.

The van has achieved a four star rating on the site and drivers have the option of booking a test drive and arranging home delivery.

Other top savings include a £5,995 Citroen Relay from 2001 in West Bromwich and a £6,795 Vauxhall Movano in Bolton, though the latter has done over 200,000 miles.

On the more modern end, you could opt for a Ford Transit, the favourite of the white van man, from 2008 available at just £9,950 in Halifax.

The model features plenty of roof storage and wide back doors ideal for those loading in things like furniture.

On the other hand, if you fancy something a bit smaller, there’s a Toyota Alphard in Evesham which is basically a people carrier but has been converted for camping use.

With just 81,000 miles on the clock, this 2007 model comes in at the pricier end at £14,995.

All of the vans are sold through AA-approved dealers who have signed up to the association’s standards.

It comes after one man revealed how he moved into his tiny Fiat 500 to save £500 a month.
