EDUCATION DISTRICT VI LAUNCHES WORK-FOR-FITNESS PROGRAMME FOR STAFF
In a bid to promote health and wellness among staff and students, the Education District VI on Monday launched its Monthly Walk for Fitness initiative for staff.
Speaking at the inaugural event, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of the District, Dr. (Mrs.) Shareefah Yusuf said the programme is aimed at encouraging a culture of physical activity and stress-free living. She emphasised the importance of prioritising health and wellness, urging staff members to take care of themselves to better serve their students, community, and the state.
While announcing that the walk for fitness will now be a monthly affair, aligning with the state civil service’s practice, the TG/PS expressed her appreciation to principals and staff present, encouraging them to spread the word and involve teachers and students in the initiative. Dr. Yusuf also suggested introducing the programme to students during morning assemblies to promote a holistic approach to health and wellness.
She said, “This initiative aligns with the district’s commitment to staff development and student well-being. By prioritising health and fitness, the Education District aims to set a positive example for the community and the affected local government areas (Oshodi/Isolo, Mushin and Ikeja).
