The pair are now having a baby together, using a surrogate, and fans have been bombarding them with questions about their family plans.

In a recent live stream as Cheryl prepared for her 64th birthday, Quran was answering queries streaming in from viewers, when he revealed that their daughter is due on 27th December.

He also let slip the baby’s name – Aliyah Leree McCain.

“We’re finally having a baby,” Cheryl added.

“A surrogate is having our baby.”

She also waved at the camera and said, “As you can see I’m alive.

“Do I look alive or do I look dead?

“Because they’re saying I’m dead.

“So am I alive, or am I dead?”

Cheryl then jokingly put her head to one side to “play dead”.

At which point Quran said: “Baby, please don’t!”

“Confirms its a surrogate and clearly y’all see she is still with us,” the person wrote in the caption after sharing the live stream clip on TikTok.

And people were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: “People are so mean!

“Congrats – if y’all are happy, that’s all that matters.”

“I wonder why everybody saying that,” another added.

“Shame on them.

What is surrogacy?

Surrogacy is the name given for a type of pregnancy where a woman carries and gives birth to another person’s baby.

The surrogate mother is then expected to give up the baby at birth, so it can be raised by the couple who originally wanted the baby.

Surrogacy is often an option for those unable to have children themselves, or for same sex couples.

According to surrogacy charity Childlessness Overcome Through Surrogacy (COTS), there are two different types of surrogacy.

  • Traditional surrogacy: When the surrogate uses her own egg fertilised with the intended father’s sperm.
  • Gestational surrogacy: The surrogate carries the intended parent’s genetic child conceived through IVF, for which specialist doctors are needed.

How are surrogate babies conceived?

In traditional surrogacy procedures, the egg is artificially inseminated using a syringe.

Gestational surrogacy is carried out through IVF.

During this in vitro fertilisation process, the egg is removed from the woman’s ovaries and fertilised with sperm in a laboratory.

The embryo is then planted in the surrogate’s womb to grow and develop.

This procedure must be carried out by specialist doctors and the biological mother is required to still have working ovaries.

“You keep on doing what you’re doing – you are a great couple.”

“Excited for you guys, ignore haters and enjoy this joyful time,” a third commented.

“So happy you are having a beautiful baby girl!” someone else said.

“Congrats on the pregnancy, love the name you picked out for her!” another added.

Cheryl and Quran recently revealed that they were having a daughter in a somewhat chaotic gender reveal.

The nan-of-17 first met Quran when he was aged 15 and working at a fast food restaurant managed by her son.

Their relationship blossomed a few years later and they tied the knot in September 2021.

Since the wedding, the pair have been open about their desire to start a family of their own – despite Cheryl already having seven children in their thirties and forties.
