‘We hear from England’: What emerged yesterday about Liverpool’s interest in Mo Simakan
Mo Simakan is understood to have attracted interest from both Liverpool and Atletico Madrid.
Sources close to the situation, however, have confirmed that the Reds have yet to act on said interest. Sky Sports Germany’s Philipp Hinze reported on X (formerly Twitter) yesterday that the Frenchman could be sold for around £33.6-37.8m.
We hear from England and Spain that @LFC and @Atleti have expressed interest in Mo Simakan (24/). No concrete negotiations, no offers – but there is interest. Possible sale price: €40m-€45m.

The Merseysiders’ involvement in the summer window has been somewhat limited. A deal was agreed to land highly-rated Chelsea academy star Rio Ngumoha – a loss that has reportedly infuriated the Blues.

Where can Simakan play?
The 24-year-old defender has primarily featured in the heart of defence throughout his footballing career.
However, he has built up some extensive experience on the right flank, registering 48 appearances at right-back and featuring on the right wing twice, according to Transfermarkt.
14 appearances came in the right fullback position in the 2023/24 campaign alone.
When does Mo Simakan’s contract at Leipzig expire?
Simakan’s current terms are set to expire in the summer of 2027 (following a contract extension signed in December 2022).
Who else have Liverpool been looking at?
One report originating from The Standard has claimed that Liverpool have submitted a bid in the region of £50.7m for Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer.
Leny Yoro’s future remains up in the air, though Manchester United have had a bid worth £42m accepted by Lille. Concerningly, the 18-year-old is being pressured internally to accept the move.
We’re credited with an interest in Nottingham Forest’s Murillo (this coming from Football Insider), though this likewise has yet to develop into anything concrete.
