'How does that movie end?' Republican destroyed as he calls Trump 'Braveheart of our time'
A North Carolina Republican was the subject of mockery on the internet after he compared former President Donald Trump to a central movie character made famous by Hollywood actor Mel Gibson.
The "Braveheart of our time, President Trump, had our economy roaring," an energetic Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson told the MAGA audience Monday at the convention. "Gas was below $2. Unemployment was at a historic low. People could afford homes. And we had a president who protected manufacturing jobs."
The internet collectively laughed at the comparison of the 78-year-old Trump to William Wallace, with some even astonished that Robinson made the comparison, given the ending of the Scottish freedom fighter's effort.
"How does that movie end," @SheaKitten asked rhetorically.
"He's not wrong when you consider Braveheart is largely a work of fiction and stolen valor," wrote @willzimm4.

"As a Scot born and bred I resent your use of the term Braveheart in this context," wrote @BarbieInNS. "Trump is neither brave nor heroic and Scotland truly hates him."
"Braveheart, aka William Wallace, was a real warrior," wrote @PattyAnne67. "He fought in many battles against the British, winning at least one. He was also captured; hung, drawn and quartered, for treason about age 35 or so. The ONLY battles the felon has fought was to stay out of jail."
"I think I injured my eyes from rolling back so hard," wrote @chrisgalea.
