Man sentenced to over 23 years for 2020 deadly carjacking

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The suspect in two 2020 shootings was sentenced to over 23 years in jail on Friday after he was found guilty in one of those cases.

Quentin Blackmon, 34, was sentenced to 285 months for the shooting of Thomas Hammond, 66, during a Northeast Portland carjacking.

According to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, on Aug. 20, 2020 Blackmon was using a gun to carjack Hammond and during the incident, Blackmon shot him.

On April 30, Blackmon was found guilty on one count of first-degree manslaughter, first-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Blackmon is still the suspect in the 2020 shooting of Michael Epps with a trial set for September of this year.
