Pro-Life Group Heads to GOP Convention to Urge Republicans to “Defend Babies” From Abortions

0

With a weaker pro-life Republican platform than many pro-life Americans would have preferred, the Republican Party has come under some criticism for not having strong enough language condemning abortion.

As a result, one pro-life group is heading to Milwaukee, Wisconsin today to remind Republicans to “defend babies” from abortions and to support pregnant moms who need help.

The Pro-Life Action League has a message for attendees of the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee this week and pro-life advocates affiliated with the organization will take to a pedestrian bridge over Interstate 94/43 on Monday, July 15, the first day of the RNC, to display banners with the following message: “GOP. Defend babies. Support moms.”

The Pro-Life Action League will display this message to both north- and south-bound traffic from the pedestrian bridge over I-94/43 accessed at West Warnimont Avenue and South 4th Street in Milwaukee (map) from 10 a.m. to noon on July 15, along with banners depicting an unborn child aborted at 15 weeks gestation.

“Some are claiming the GOP is backing away from the abortion issue with their new platform language,” said Eric Scheidler, executive director of the Pro-Life Action League. “We’ll be there to call upon the GOP to defend unborn babies and their mothers from the violence of abortion.”

The pro-life leader told LifeNews.com he wished the platform language was stronger.

Scheidler said: “I’m glad to see support for state-level limits on abortion. But I was sorry to see no mention of the fact that as many as two-thirds of all abortions are unwanted, not really a free choice for the woman. We need to protect American women from unwanted abortions.”

The pro-life group is also planning a similar outreach during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago next month.
