EVERYONE loves a wedding, but finding the perfect present can be tricky.
DIY gifts offer a personal touch, so get crafty and have a go at these budget ideas.
CUP OF JOY: Head to Poundland and pick up a couple of plain white tea cups for 80p each, then get a pack of ceramic paint with six colours for £1.79 at wilko.com.
Decorate the cups with the couple’s initials, their wedding date or a simple heart motif and leave to dry.
Every time they have a brew, they will think of you.
READ ALL ABOUT IT: Make a DIY recipe book filled with the couple’s favourite dishes. Pick up a simple notebook, or binder (£1, The Works), and write out recipes you know the bride and groom will love.
If you’re close to the couple, you could ask their parents or family for the couple’s top childhood recipes and add these in, too.
UNLEASH YOUR INNER ARTIST: Create some wall art that the couple can display in their home to remember their big day. You can use canvas, wood or even a framed piece of fabric.
If you’re really feeling creative, paint or stencil the couple’s names, a meaningful quote or the wedding date.
If you’re not an arty person, why not print out a lovely photo of the couple and mount it in a frame? You can pick one up at Ikea for 50p.
GO FOR GREEN: A herb garden kit is a practical and thoughtful gift for couples who love to cook.
Separate a few existing herb plants at the root and put them in separate small pots to grow.
You could paint the pots before gifting or just wrap one of them in a pretty ribbon.
SEW GOOD: If you’re good with a needle and thread, you could embroider a tea towel or a set of napkins with their wedding date.
