Prince Louis Bonds With Big Sister Charlotte in a Sweet New Picture Taken at Home — & Looks So Grown Up
Royal life is filled with traditions and public appearances and formal photoshoots — but at home, princes and princesses enjoy a relatively normal existence. Kate Middleton just proved this with a new picture of her kids Prince Louis, 6, and Princess Charlotte, 9, who she shares with husband Prince William. The adorable snap shows a peek into their home life, and the way the royal siblings bond — and we can’t get over how big Prince Louis looks now!
The Princess of Wales posted a photo of Charlotte and Louis sitting side by side on the couch and watching the UEFA European Championship football game (or soccer to us Americans), where England narrowly lost 2-1 to Spain. The duo is wearing custom England jerseys with their name and age on the back (so freaking cute!) as they lean into each other, totally focused on the screen. Charlotte is sporting a small braid that is fastened like a crown over her long brown hair, which is pulled back in front of her shoulder to reveal her jersey. Louis has a grown-up haircut that makes him look just like his older brother Prince George, 10, from the back. He’s almost as tall as his older sister, too!
“@england, your teamwork, grit and determination were an inspiration to all of us, young and old,” the photo was captioned. “Congratulations to Spain. W & C.”
Fans were full of love for the sweet siblings. “❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Love how this is a private moment from home! This is so relatable ❤️❤️❤️ thank you Princess for sharing with us!” one person wrote. Another commented, “???????? So, Sweet. Louis was watching football with big sis Charlotte. How adorable ????????????⚽️????⚽️.”
“What a super ‘normal’ family pic! You guys are doing great. ❤️” another wrote.
Fans also commented on the sweet connection with their late great-grandmother (Gan Gan, as she was affectionately known), Queen Elizabeth II. Charlotte and Louis’s jersey numbers are their ages — nine and six — but Queen Elizabeth was 96 when she died in September 2022, a fact not lost on eagle-eyed commenters. “The 96 reminds me of their great grandmother watching over them. That was her age,” says one with over 1500 likes. “I like to think it’s a subtle sign she’s watching too,” says another.
Prince George wasn’t in the photo because he attended the match live at the Olympiastadion Berlin in Germany with his dad, where they wore matching black suits.
“Hello, Berlin! #EURO2024,” the Prince and Princess of Wales wrote on X, including a video of Prince George and Prince William walking into the stadium.
At the end of the game, Prince William sent an encouraging note to the team. “This time it just wasn’t meant to be. We’re all still so proud of you. Onwards @England. W,” he wrote.
It was a weekend of sportsmanship for the royals. Earlier on July 14, Princess Kate and Princess Charlotte attended a match at Wimbledon together. Charlotte was photographed making a “pinky promise” with tennis player Lucy Shuker. Middleton shared several photos from the event, writing, “Great to be back at @Wimbledon! There’s nothing quite like The Championships ????.”
We love seeing the royals out and about supporting their national teams, but there is something so special about glimpsing how they enjoy their downtime at home. It’s so cute that Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis watched the game together from their living room!
