Trump's new campaign strategy facing an uphill climb: CNN analyst
Reacting to interviews given to sympathetic conservative journalists where Donald Trump claimed he is a changed man after being shot in the ear during an assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania rally over the weekend, one CNN analyst suggested it may be an insurmountable climb considering his history.
Following the shooting, the former president agreed to interviews with right-wing journalist Salena Zito and the New York Post in which he stated he tore up the Republican National Convention speech he claims he wrote and is replacing it with another calling for national unity.
During a CNN panel discussion on the purported Trump change with host Kate Bolduan, Trump advocate David Urban suggested the "proof will be in the pudding" when the former president takes the stage in Milwaukee on Thursday night.
Liberal analyst Paul Begala wasn't so sure and claimed the former president's attempt to remake his image may be out of his reach when asked by the CNN host.

"It's almost impossible to answer your question, Kate, that someone this well-defined can be redefined but this country has always open to it," he replied. "Mr. Trump has the opportunity now to be both strong and sympathetic that's kinda not — the latter half of that is not Trump's brand, okay?"
"He's never been brand unity — Joe Biden is — but he is brand strength," he added. "So if he can combine those that would be really formidable. And I do think, and even as a Democrat I can't stand him, okay? But I wish him well, and I would love to see him try to redefine himself because there's so much division in this country and a whole lot of it is fostered by Donald Trump. If he can change that, that would be a wonderful thing for our country."
