Aidan O’Brien tells me City Of Troy’s likely next race… with a decent price still available
NOTHING is set in stone, but it’s looking more than likely that superstar City of Troy will next be in action in the Juddmonte International at York.
Plans for City of Troy – the Derby and Eclipse hero – are a fascination for racing fans, with the son of Justify possibly ending up on dirt in the Breeders’ Cup Classic towards the end of the season.
The question is all about his path towards Del Mar.

Aidan O’Brien, who trains City of Troy, also handles Auguste Rodin, the 2023 Derby victor.
Both could end up next in the International or King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.
Today, O’Brien told me: “There’s no decision yet, Matt. But I think Auguste Rodin will go to the King George and City of Troy will go to York.”
Auguste Rodin is currently 2-1 for the Ascot showpiece while City of Troy is a 3-1 shot.
You can still get 7-4 about City Of Troy for the Juddmonte – which could look a steal if he goes off anywhere near his Coral-Eclipse starting price.
City Of Troy was sent off 1-4 for that Group 1 at Sandown, where he plugged on to see off Al Riffa and Ghostwriter.
The King George is run at Ascot on Saturday week – July 27 – while the Juddmonte, run over 1m2½f, will take place on August 21.
