Secret Service rep debunks MAGA claim security request was denied for Trump rally

Following an assassination attempt against presumptive 2024 GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh on Saturday afternoon, July 13, some members of Trump's team are claiming that a request for extra U.S. Secret Service protection was denied.

But according to MSNBC's Kyle Griffin, that claim is false.

In a July 14 post on X, former Twitter, Griffin explains, "Secret Service goes on the record saying it's not true that the Trump team requested addition security recently and was denied."

Griffin quotes Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi as saying, "In fact, we added protective resources & technology & capabilities as part of the increased campaign travel tempo."

In response to Griffin's tweet, author Tomer Rozenberg posted, "Sounds like the Secret Service is stepping up their game to ensure safety. Let's hope for smooth and secure campaign travels ahead.

Minnesota-based United Auto Workers (UAW) activist Scott French noted, "But roof tops are a major challenge especially when there are only couple to cover."
