Federal law enforcement officials have identified the shooter of former President Donald Trump as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, a native of Bethel Park, PA, a relatively affluent area south of Pittsburgh about an hour's drive from where Trump was speaking Saturday night.

They said they found two explosive devices in Crooks' car and may have found a third at his residence. President Joe Biden has said he will address the nation about the incident today at 1:30pm E.T.

"Authorities have given no indication that they have a motive for the shooting," the New York Times reported Sunday. "Early on Sunday morning, law enforcement officers closed down all roads leading toward the home of the suspect’s family in Bethel Park, about an hour’s drive from the site of the rally."

Law enforcement officials also told The Associated Press that the gun was likely bought by the father of the suspect six months ago, and that Crooks took the weapon.

"Federal law enforcement officials were working feverishly to understand how Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, Pa., was able to get within firing range of the presumptive Republican nominee, injuring Mr. Trump, killing one member of the audience and critically wounding two others," the Times added.

"The spectator who was killed was Corey Comperatore, according to his sister, Dawn Comperatore Schafer, and a local official," noted the Times. "He was 50, according to a post the sister made on Facebook."

Correction: The first version of this article incorrectly stated that Trump spoke in Bethel, PA. He was in fact speaking in Butler, PA.
