Will there be a bank holiday if England win Euro 2024?

Three Lions fans are hoping for a bank holiday if England end their trophy drought by winning the Euros on Sunday.

However, there has been no official plans by the Government that there will be a national bank holiday.

Fans across the country have been campaigning that one should be put in place.

In one viral video posted online by Georgeana Burkett, a man claimed that ‘not one person in England’ will be going to work the following day if Southgate’s side win Sunday’s final.

Another fan who goes by the name of Reece also said: “One’s on Tuesday night, one’s in a Wednesday night semifinals.

“But then if we get through to the final guess when the final is? Guess what time the final is? Eight o’clock kickoff on Sunday night. A Sunday night!

“Now, that has to be announced as a national Bank Holiday. No one is going to work that next day. Not one person in England. No one. And if you do, your life is boring. You’ve got no life.”

When is the Euro 2024 final?

  • The Euro 2024 final will take place on Sunday, July 14.
  •  Kick-off for the tournament showpiece will be at 8pm BST.
  •  Olympiastadion in Berlin is the chosen venue for this huge match and it can host approximately 74,475 passionate fans.

What has Gareth Southgate said?

Speaking after the game, Southgate said: “I took the job to try to improve English football and we’re now in a second final.

“The last one was the first in over 50 years. We’re now in a first one oversees.

“We’re giving people amazing nights. We’ve given our supporters some of the best nights in the last 50 years. I’m hugely proud of that.

“I’m delighted if everyone at home is feeling the way we are and the way those in the stadium were. But we’re not finished.

“We’ve got the greatest possible test to prepare for. We came here to try to win the tournament and that’s still our aim.”
