Extreme heat takes over Sunday and Monday

0

What We’re Tracking

  • Few storms Sunday
  • Heating up for the weekend
  • Cooling down by Friday

HEAT ADVISORY: A Heat advisory is in effect until 8pm Monday for all of Northeastern Kansas.

There are a few isolated storms that have developed just East of the viewing area and even a couple in our western counties. Most are going to stay dry and just see a lightning show to start out. Temperatures are in the middle 70s as we setup for a very hot couple of days.

Lingering clouds may stick around through the morning that will start to clear out by midday. We heat things up even more for our Sunday. Highs will creep closer to lower 100s with heat index values feeling closer to 105°-110°. Moderate winds out of the south will only help bring in hotter weather for the next few days.

The upcoming week looks to be mostly dry as sunny weather dominates the Central Plains. Temperatures will struggle to give relief overnight with lows staying in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Heat indices will stay near 110 degrees for the start of upcoming work week. Find ways to stay cool as hot temperatures will linger into Tuesday.

We may not finally get relief from the heat until Tuesday night after a cooler front approaches. This will bring in our next rain chance by Wednesday. Temperatures should drop into the lower to middle 80s for the end of the week.
