Interesting to see how the greats see Clark

Caitlin Clark has had an amazing couple of years. First she just caught the public imagination in a way that no women’s basketball player ever has while she was at Iowa. Then she came in to the WNBA facing a lot of skepticism from other athletes in the league and, at times, outright hostility.

She has continued to make an impression though, and for an interesting barometer, check out what these NBA legends say about her.

Steph Curry is solidly impressed, as are Shaquille O’ Neal and Charles Barkley. Kevin Garnett thinks that some of the hostility is actually fear and therefore respect, while Magic Johnson agrees with Jimmy Kimmel that Clark and Angel Reese are the Magic and Bird for the WNBA.

Reggie Miller, by contrast, says that as of now she is not one of the 12 best players in the game. He says it was a “disservice” to Clark to hype her up prematurely.

Kevin Durant on the other hand says she “commanded the whole game” and found himself wondering “who the hell is this?”

Time will tell how good she is, but hearing what experienced pros think is almost always worthwhile.
