A PASSENGER has revealed the “weird plane seat” that let’s you sit right by the flight crew.

The bizarre set-up is actually perfect for couples, with the row only having two seats for passengers while the rest of the plane has three.

Flyer Chris Olsen revealed the seats in a TikTok clip – which were found in row 10 of an American Airlines Airbus A321.

The 43-year-old was flying from Phoenix to San Diego last month when he came across the strange sight.

He captioned the clip: “Weird airplane seats you have to see to believe— Airbus edition.”

Despite only having two seats for passengers, there are three seats in the row.

The third is a ‘jump seat‘ and is reserved for flight attendants who need the seat for take-off and landing.

Strangely, the seat faces backwards towards passengers sitting in row 11.

That’s because the jump seat sits next to the plane’s emergency exit, with the crew member needed in the spot in case of emergency.

Olsen told Newsweek: “I booked this seat on purpose because I’m an aviation geek and like to try out weird seating layouts for the love of planes.

“It’s also cool because you can chat with the flight attendant when they’re seated in the jump seat, and they usually have interesting stories to share.

“It’s interesting because usually the jump seats are on bulkheads and not in the middle of all the seats.”

Commenters shared their own experience when they had flown in the plane on that row.

One said: “Had this seat on my last flight and was great. I put my bag under where the window seat would be.”

Another wrote: “I sat there w a big a** dude on the aisle, worst 2.5hrs of my life.”

Passengers are not allowed to sit in the jump seat.

According to the Cabin Safety website: “There are a couple of regulations involved, and ultimately the answer is no, a passenger cannot sit in a flight attendant jumpseat for takeoff and landing under normal circumstances.

“For starters, airlines cannot sell unoccupied flight attendant jumpseat positions to passengers.

“The seating capacity doesn’t consider flight attendant jumpseats as passenger seats.”

It also explains that the jumpseat has a different seatbelt – with an extra harness strap – which passengers have not been trained to use properly.

The airline has partnered with six Michelin-star chefs, each of whom have three stars – so you can expect it to be good.

Passengers can choose bento boxes and miso soups onboard.

Singapore Airlines
