Jay Shah praises ‘young’ Indian side after series win against Zimbabwe
The BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has congratulated skipper Shubman Gill and his team for their brilliant series victory over Zimbabwe in the five-match T20I series at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday. Gill alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed the Zimbabwean bowlers around the park and went on to form one of India’s highest partnerships in T20Is. This helped the Men in Blue thrash the hosts by 10 wickets and take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.
In the fourth T20I of the 5-match T20I series, India restricted Zimbabwe to 152/7 in 20 overs and then Jaiswal (93 not out) and Gill (58 not out) carried their bats through to chase the target of 153 in just 15.2 overs and seal the win with 28 balls to spare.
“What a way to clinch the T20I series! Top stuff from our young guns! @ybj_19 (Yashasvi) and @ShubmanGill were spectacular with the bat in the run chase. Congratulations to the entire team and support staff on a fantastic series win,” Shah posted on X.
The series against Zimbabwe was a huge opportunity for India’s young guns to shine on the international stage and they managed to do just that. They may have begun the tour with a defeat but then showed great composure and went on to win 3 matches on the trot to wrap up the series.
