The most losses before an All-Star break? We did it!

Welcome back, friends, as we now have two more games of first-half misery before finding out which key players (aka, at least relative to the White Sox, “stars”) will not be around in the second half as the White Sox pursue their franchise all-time losses mark of 106, among other indignities.

The Getz Gang will line up as such, in today’s afternoon affair:

And the Pirates, who are hoping to get to .500 at 48-48 with two more wins in Chicago this weekend:

Perhaps as important, at least for those of you interested in what has to be a better future than that of a roster running out at 42 games worse than .500, is this afternoon’s Futures Game. The White Sox have two representatives, shortstop Colson Montgomery (in the starting lineup, playing third base and batting seventh) and southpaw Noah Schultz.

The game kicks off All-Star festivities at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. It starts at 3 p.m. CT on MLB Network, MLB.TV, MLB.com and on the MLB App. MLB Network’s Melanie Newman will provide play-by-play on the broadcast, with Mark DeRosa and MLB Pipeline’s Jonathan Mayo serving as analysts. Sande Charles will handle sideline reporting duties.

As for the game with the also-rans, it is the usual broadcast suspects, at 1:10 p.m. CT. So about the time the White Sox game is lost (no, not before first pitch, chuckleheads), you can switch over to the Futures Game and see how Colson shows out (recall, he homered and otherwise starred in the Fall Stars Game in the AFL last fall).
