Fabrizio Romano is confident that £25m international will leave Spurs ‘for sure’
Fabrizio Romano has played down talks of Sergio Reguilon returning to Manchester United this summer but insisted that the left-back does not have a future at Tottenham Hotspur.
Ange Postecoglou decided soon after arriving at Tottenham last summer that Reguilon would not be part of his plans, with the player being shipped off on loan to Manchester United for the first half of the campaign before making a temporary switch to Brentford for the latter half.
The Spaniard delivered some solid displays last season, particularly at the Gtech Community Stadium, and on the back of that, he is thought to be attracting interest from a few clubs this summer.
Earlier this week, The Athletic claimed that the 27-year-old is considered ‘too expensive’ for Brentford on a permanent basis, but he is wanted by a number of La Liga sides.
Just a few days ago, Football Insider asserted that Man Utd could make a move to sign the left-back permanently, with Spurs allegedly willing to sell the player for a cut-price of £10m despite signing him for £25m from Real Madrid back in 2020.
Fabrizio Romano is confident of Reguilon exit
When asked about Reguilon’s future, Romano has now told Playback: “Sergio Reguilon back to Manchester United? At the moment I don’t have this one, but Sergio Reguilon has to leave Tottenham. He’s not a part of Tottenham’s plans, so Reguilon will leave this summer for sure.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It is clear that Ange is not convinced that Reguilon has the attributes to play as an inverted full-back.
On the back of the Spanish international’s impressive displays last season, I would expect a few Premier League sides to vie for his signature.
