Teen conscript in ICU after exercise

A 17-year-old conscript was admitted to Nicosia General’s intensive care unit on Saturday after feeling fatigue the day before shortly after he had started his national service.

The defence ministry said the teen felt fatigued after a morning exercise on Friday and was taken for a check to the doctor of the unit.

The doctor ordered the 17-year-old be taken to the hospital.

The ministry said the conscript is being examined and being given the appropriate medical care in the ICU.

According to the ministry, he was visited by his family and the defence minister as well as the chief of the national guard.

The ministry said that a further announcement would follow, after a medical report is drawn up to inform of the conscript’s condition.
