Defenceman Hudson Gill joins Nanaimo Clippers
Nanaimo, B.C. (July 12, 2024) — 2006-born defenceman Hudson Gill (Burlington, ON) has signed with the Nanaimo Clippers, the team announced today.
Gill, 18, joins the team after a standout rookie campaign with the Brantford 99ers of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), where he was the team’s highest scoring defenceman and third-highest overall scorer, posting 34 points (5 goals, 29 assists) in 56 games. He was also named to the OJHL’s First Prospect Team at season’s end.
A graduate of the Burlington Eagles, the 6’2″, 175lb rearguard was also a standout for Bishop Kearney in Rochester, New York before beginning his junior career, recording 57 points in 63 games as a 16-year old in the prep ranks.
“Hudson is a player we’ve followed closely for the last two years, and we’re extremely excited to bring him to Nanaimo,” said Clippers general manager and head coach Colin Birkas. “He helps replace our graduating right-shot defencemen, and has shown he can play well beyond his years; he’s someone Clipper fans will really enjoy seeing continue to develop here.”
Gill and the 2024-25 Nanaimo Clippers kick off training camp on Labour Day weekend, with the team’s preseason beginning the following weekend. Secure your season seats today at tickets.nanaimoclippers.com!
