Jonathan Groff Eyes Next Broadway Role, Will Play Bobby Darin in Staged Reading

Jonathan Groff just wrapped his Broadway run in the musical Merrily We Roll Along and he’s already setting his sights on his next musical!

The 39-year-old actor, who won a Tony Award for his work in Merrily, is set to play singer Bobby Darin in a staged reading of a new musical about his life.

Deadline reports that an “eventual Broadway run” of the music is expected, though a timeframe on the production and additional casting is not known at this time.

The musical is titled Just in Time, named after one of Darin’s many songs. His other hits included “Beyond the Sea,” “Mack the Knife,” “Splish Splash,” and “Dream Lover.”

Kevin Spacey played Bobby Darin in the 2004 movie Beyond the Sea and earned a Golden Globe nomination for the performance.
