United aircraft loses wheel in Los Angeles but lands safely in Denver

LOS ANGELES, California: A United Airlines Boeing jet bound for Denver lost a main landing gear wheel this week during takeoff from Los Angeles.

The airline said the flight landed safely in Denver without any reported injuries on the ground or on board Flight 1001.
