TOPEKA (KSNT) - Local sheriff's deputies are helping move a house along a series of roads east of the City of Topeka Friday.

The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office posted to social media on July 12 sharing the travel plans for the precious cargo. Deputies are helping with traffic control as the house is moved from Southeast 45th Street and Southeast Dupont Road to Jefferson County. The planned route is:

  • Southeast 45th Street and Southeast Dupont Road
  • East to Southeast Shawnee Heights Road
  • North to Southeast Highway 40
  • West to Southeast K-4 Highway
  • North to Southeast 24 Highway
  • Slightly east to K-4 Highway
  • Jefferson County line

The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office is helping the house move as far north as the Jefferson County line, at which point their assistance with the move ends. Drivers are advised to keep an eye out for the moving structure and take other routes when necessary.

27 News reached out to Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig for more information on the house and its final destination. He said his deputies will take over escorting the home at the Shawnee County line at K-4 Highway. Deputies will help guide the house to Rock Creek then to a location northwest of the town where it will be dropped off.

Patton House & Building Movers Inc. out of Paola is taking care of the moving service.
