Nintendo’s eagle-eyed fans have spotted new clues about who Emio is
ONE of the biggest mysteries in gaming at the moment surrounds a mysterious Nintendo trailer.
The 15-second trailer was incredibly short, and showed fans barely yet people cannot help themselves from investigating the mystery.
The smiling man is one of the biggest gaming mysteries[/caption]Nintendo’s trailer simply titled Emio has a short description that simply reads #WhoIsEmio?
The trailer shows a video of a man with a paper bag on his head with creepy scratch effects throughout the film.
On the paper bag is a simple drawing of a wide smile that changes to a creepy grin for an instant.
The end of the video has the Japanese for emiotoko, which is likely where the name Emio comes from.
In English it means ‘smiling man’ but those are all the clues the trailer gives us.
Fans have speculated that the game is being developed either by the Bloober Team best known for Layers of Fear, or by Koei Tecmo, which previously developed the Fatal Frame series for Nintendo.o
However, just a few days after the trailer dropped Nintendo fans spotted one more clue about who or what Emio is.
The upcoming horror game has been rated in Australia which means we now have some insight into what will be in the game.
It’s rated Mature 15 and Restricted 13 due to the themes and scenes within the game.
The ratings show that the game will contain “strong themes, violence, and suicide references” and “violence, cruelty, domestic abuse and suicide themes”.
There was also a disclaimer at the beginning of the trailer that reads: “This video contains scenes that some viewers may find disturbing. Viewer discretion is advised.”
It seems that whatever Emio is, it will be a much spookier game than Nintendo Switch players were expecting from the company.
