Euros final weather forecast revealed by Met Office – with Brits to bask in 23C sunshine as they cheer on Three Lions
ENGLAND fans are set to feel the heat in more ways than one this Sunday as forecasters predict 23C sunshine for the Euro 2024 finals.
Football could well be coming home as the Three Lions face off against the titans of Spain after beating the Netherlands 2-1 on Wednesday.
Fans are set to cram into boozers around the country, which will be allowed to stay open extra late on Sunday night — as they were for Wednesday’s semi-final triumph.
And those with beer gardens may well see extra attention ahead of the match as The Met Office predicts blustery 23C conditions for Sunday.
Meteorologist Aidan McGivern said temperatures would be “a little closer to average for the time of year” on July 14.
He said: “It’s warming up slightly – it’s certainly going to feel more humid in the south when the sun comes through, 23C or so, that’s not far from average.”
The weather expert added that it would still be cloudy with showers in parts of the country.
Met Office forecasters have said today will be “mostly cloudy” but will see “some glimmers of sunshine” here and there, with outbreaks of rain possible – most likely in northern Scotland and eastern England.
Heavy, thundery showers are also developing across southwest England, according to the forecaster.
A yellow weather thunderstorm warning is in place from 1pm today until 9pm with “torrential downpours” expected in the very southwest of the country.
These will be easing through the evening, with conditions staying cloudy into the early hours, with patchy rain.
Saturday will stay cloudy and cool in the north and east, with some patchy rain.
Other parts of the country will brighten up, with the risk of heavy showers towards southwest England and Wales.
But for the big day itself when England take on Spain for the Euro 2024 finals, Britons could well enjoy temperatures of up to 23C in the south.
The Met Office’s outlook for Sunday to Tuesday says conditions will stay “on the unsettled side”, with sunny spells and scattered showers, along with heavy with hail and thunder.
Temperatures will be “trending up” and feeling warm in any prolonged spells of sunshine, the forecaster said.
It comes as England fans declared Sunday’s Euro 2024 final the “battle of Benidorm” as Spanish cops are deploying riot police, drones and booze bans to cope with the surge of fans.
Benidorm council chiefs have put preventative measures in place for pubs and clubs showing the mammoth clash with them telling bar staff to only give England fans beer in plastic pint glasses.
The travelling Three Lions fans have vowed to transform the famous Costa Blanca resort into a battleground on the day of the final against the Spanish.
To counter any rowdiness, public security councillor Jesus Carrobles has said booze served in glasses will be banned from 6pm.
The game kicks off at 9pm in Benidorm – with elated England fans expected to pile into pubs as early as possible in their droves.
A whopping 70,000 litres of beer is expected to be sunk on Sunday – 25,000 more than on a normal day, say local reports.
Carrobles has also banned business owners in the town’s beloved Little England area from setting up street bars on match day to avoid any escalation of trouble.

This period will most likely start with low pressure over the UK bringing some unsettled weather with showers and some longer periods of rain for some.
This unsettled weather moving east or northeast across the country, with rain (most frequent in the northwest) or showers and some sunny spells (most frequent in the southeast) in-between at times.
There is a chance that the end of next week may be more settled for many, with any unsettled conditions being confined to the far north and west.
Thereafter, there are limited, if any, signs for more prolonged settled and warm weather, but winds are likely to stay fairly light overall with temperatures, particularly across the south, coming up to around the average for the of year.
Friday 26 Jul – Friday 9 Aug
There remain encouraging signs of a more settled spell developing at some point during the period, at least for a time, and perhaps more likely in the south.
However, by the same token further, perhaps shorter, unsettled interludes are likely too, and confidence in the broad weather patterns during this period is much lower than average.
Above average temperatures overall, and drier than average conditions overall, are slightly favoured.
