CAN you hear the Lionesses roar?

Although the past month has been dominated by the men’s squad competing in Germany, the England women’s football team take on the Republic of Ireland in a Euro 2025 qualifier tonight, led by captain Leah Williamson.

Here are TV Mag’s six telly picks for Friday 12 July 2024…

UEFA Euro 2025 Qualifier: England V Republic of Ireland (7.30pm ITV1)

Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper for two years running Mary Earps

While England’s men have been busy at Euro 2024, the Lionesses have been preparing for their next Euro 2025 qualifier.

Sarina Wiegman’s team lie third in their group, but a win against France last time out has lifted the mood and left automatic qualification in their own hands.

Their opponents today, Ireland, are yet to score a goal, let alone register a point in the group, so keeper Mary Earps could face a quiet evening at Carrow Road.

Sister Boniface Mysteries (9pm Drama)

Humphrey Lash (James Cartwright) finds out they take their cricket very seriously in Great Slaughter

Great Slaughter’s Cricket Club – chaired by Chief Constable Lowsley (Robert Daws) – are taking on Stowington in the county final, and the pressure is on to beat these fierce local rivals.

However, things take a turn for the worse when Great Slaughter’s arrogant star player Humphrey (James Cartwright) undermines the team coach’s instructions, which results in a teammate getting out.

Shockingly, the next morning Humphrey is discovered dead beneath a fallen sight screen next to the cricket pitch.

Who on earth could be responsible?

Sister Boniface (Lorna Watson) is soon on the case, attempting to find the killer.

Celebrity Gogglebox (9pm C4)

Rob Beckett and Tom Allen give their views on some of our favourite shows

The stars who take part in Celebrity Gogglebox are a lucky bunch – they literally get paid to watch TV.

Tonight, the famous faces giving their take on some top recent TV moments will include Martin and Roman Kemp, Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash, Shaun Ryder and Bez – who are always a highlight – Rob Beckett and Tom Allen, and Fearne Cotton and Gok Wan.

The Sommerdahl Murders (9pm More4)

Another day, another body for detective Sommerdahl

Horrible things might happen there, but the Danish seaside town of Helsingør, where detective Dan Sommerdahl does his, erm, detecting, is truly idyllic.

It provides a picture-perfect backdrop once again this week, as Sommerdahl (Peter Mygind) investigates the suspicious death of a local playboy entrepreneur on the same day as his company’s accountant is reported missing.

Could the two things be linked?

Meanwhile, Sommerdahl asks Flemming how to win Marianne back.

Motorway: Hell On The Highway (8pm C5)

Stray animals on the highway is just one of the terrifying events caught on camera

This week’s white-knuckle ride is all about the motorists who drift across the carriageway.

Brace yourself to see the one who crashed a tanker full of fuel into a row of  parked cars in Thailand along with the motorist in Norway who ended up facing an oncoming HGV.

There are also examples of motorway exits that went horribly wrong, like that of a driver in Malta who flipped their car completely.

With tales of horror on the hard shoulder and footage of animals straying on to the highway, this definitely isn’t a show to encourage nervous drivers to hit the road.

Celebrity I Literally Just Told You (10pm C4)

Jimmy Carr gives some well-known faces a chance to win £25,000 for charity

Is there a quirkier quiz on TV than I Literally Just Told You?

Jimmy Carr returns to host another series of the show that gives contestants the answers before asking the questions – they simply need to make sure they’re paying attention or they’re likely to miss them.

The new run kicks off with a shiny celebrity special, with Oti Mabuse, Rylan Clark, Jonathan Ross, Josie Gibson and Chico Slimani all hoping to bag up to £25,000 for their chosen charity.
