AUSTIN (KXAN) — With the PGA Tour schedule split between the Scottish Open and ISCO Championship this week, Texas Ex Pierceson Coody is taking full advantage.

Coody fired an opening round 11-under 61 Thursday to take a 3-shot lead at the ISCO Championship, held outside Louisville, Kentucky at Keene Trace Golf Club.

The former Longhorn birdied six consecutive holes in the first round, ending the front nine on a birdie streak of five to card a 30. He shot a bogey-free round with 11 birdies and it's the lowest score he's shot in his professional career by three shots.

Coody has played 26 PGA events since he turned pro in 2022 with $931,258 in career earnings. If he can hang on for three more rounds and win the ISCO Championship, he'll pocket $720,000 of the $4 million purse.

Coody tees off at 1:22 p.m. Friday for his second round, paired with Tom Whitney and John Marshall Butler.
