Man arrested in Paphos for illegally residing in Cyprus

Police arrested a 29-year-old man suspected to be illegally residing in the Republic of Cyprus, Paphos police said on Friday.

According to police, the man was found on Thursday night, when migration police stopped him on Kaniggos Street for a check.

When questioned by police at the time, he did not present any form of ID, but a picture of a man purported to be him.

During investigations that followed, police found that the picture was of another person.

When questioned the man allegedly admitted to residing illegally in Cyprus since 2022, and that he is from India.

He was arrested on charges of fraud and illegally residing in Cyprus.
