Mets Minors Game Chat: Syracuse Mets Play Two

The Mets finished off their sweep of the Nationals earlier on Thursday. That gives us the opportunity to bring you minor-league action! The most important minor-league action might’ve already occurred: outfielder Drew Gilbert finally started his rehab assignment. The 23-year-old went 0-for-2 with a walk while playing center field for the FCL Mets earlier on Thursday.

Here are each of the matchups and when they start:

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (48-38) vs. Syracuse Mets (53-34) – 4:30 PM – Game 1 Start

• The two teams will play a doubleheader on Thursday after their game on Wednesday was postponed. Tylor Megill will get the start in Game 1.
• Luisangel Acuña is 3-for-25 to start July, and his OPS for the season is down to .674 in 81 games.
• Since being activated off the development list on June 25, Carlos Cortes has four home runs, 11 RBIs and a .908 OPS in 12 games.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (42-38) vs. New Hampshire Fisher Cats (33-47) – 6:35 p.m. 

• Mets 1B/COF prospect Ryan Clifford had two home runs, a double and six RBIs for Binghamton on Wednesday night. The 20-year-old now has a .923 OPS and 12 home runs in 46 games for Double-A Binghamton.
• Right-hander Jordan Geber (3.92 ERA) gets the start for Binghamton. Geber will be making his first start of the season for Binghamton after eight relief appearances.
• 1B/3B prospect Nick Lorusso went 1-for-2 with two walks in his Rumble Ponies debut on Wednesday.

Brooklyn Cyclones (38-45) vs. Wilmington Blue Rocks (38-44) – 6:35 p.m.

• Right-hander Jonah Tong was dominant on Wednesday for Brooklyn. He allowed only one run and struck out seven in six innings.
• Right-hander Kade Morris starts tonight for Brooklyn. The former third-round pick has a 1.96 ERA over his last three starts.

Lakeland Flying Tigers (52-30) vs. St. Lucie Mets (28-55) – 6:10 p.m.

• Catcher/first base prospect Ronald Hernandez is sixth in the Florida State League with his .379 on-base percentage.
