ONE lucky bidder will Definitely Maybe get their hands on the wicker chair from the cover of Oasis’s debut album.

Guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs sits in the chair with a leopard-print cushion in the classic photo taken in his flat in Manchester in 1994.

It was later painted grey by a relative, but Bonehead supplied a letter of authenticity when he let it slide away in 2018.

Auctioneers think some might pay up to £8,000 for it on Monday.

There are some chips to the wood, but no cigarettes and alcohol stains.

Definitely Maybe went to No1 on its release — and propelled Bonehead, Gallagher brothers Noel and Liam, Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan and Tony McCarroll to global stardom.

Chad Craddock, of Tracks Auctions, said: “This is the first time any item from the cover of the Oasis debut album Definitely Maybe has become available for sale.

“The album, along with its iconic cover, was a huge critical and commercial success and formed part of the soundtrack for an entire generation.

“The chair originally came from Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs and comes with iron clad provenance which includes a photograph of Bonehead sitting in the chair outside his house in October 2018.

“It also comes with a signed letter from Bonehead confirming it was his chair.”

In his note, Bonehead says: “This is to certify that the chair is the one in which I was pictured sitting in the photo taken for the cover of the first album by Oasis ‘Definitely Maybe’.”
