Over 800,000 cigarettes seized in arrest

A man was arrested Thursday morning in a village near Nicosia for the illegal possession of a massive stash of tobacco products, including over 800,000 cigarettes.

The arrest came after authorities spotted the 68-year-old suspect carrying boxes of duty-free tobacco, leading to a search of his residence.

Police uncovered a staggering 730,000 cigarettes, 153,400 heated cigarettes, and 124,635 grammes of tobacco during the raid.

Customs officials confiscated the haul for further investigation.
