Pelosi has told people Biden 'should step aside': report
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is privately telling House Democrats that she believes President Joe Biden should step aside as the party's 2024 nominee.
Politico reports that Pelosi believes that Biden's debate performance and his subsequent attempts at damage control have left him in a deep hole from which he cannot recover.
"In private conversations with lawmakers, we’re told, the former speaker hasn’t tried to hide her disdain for the situation that party now finds itself in," the publication writes. "She’s suggested to people that Biden won’t win this November and should step aside, according to about a half-dozen lawmakers and others who have spoken with her or are familiar with these conversations."

Additionally, Pelosi has told vulnerable lawmakers to do what they need to save their own chances, including calling on Biden to stand down as the nominee.
Pelosi made headlines on Wednesday when she went on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" when she said that Biden needed to choose whether he really wanted to stay in the race despite the fact that Biden had defiantly insisted he was staying in just two days earlier.
"Time is running short," Pelosi emphasized.
