Library of Congress awards prize for American fiction to James McBride

The Library of Congress has awarded a lifetime achievement prize to James McBride, whose acclaimed novels include ''The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store,'' ''Deacon King Kong'' and ''The Good Lord Bird.''
